Missing the home opener because I am sick, I watched every second of the Ernie Banks unveiling of his statue...Nice to see that not the cold wind, nor the rain, seemed to dampen a wonderful ceremony for one of baseball's true greats, Mr. Cub, Ernie Banks.

I watched as the cameras panned across fans, local politicians and passers-by, but nothing struck me as more awe inspiring as seeing Hank Aaron at Ernie's celebration. Knowing I grew up to only see highlights of both Aaron and Banks, they made me feel proud that the stories I saw on television, and the pure voice-cracking jubilation of Jack Brickhouse's call of Ernie's 500th, were just that....proud, awe-inspiring moments...If I had one wish, it would be to have been a child back in the days of Aaron, Mays, Banks...it all seemed so real back then, so innocent, so very touchable...

now that the Cubs have Reed Johnson, and it looks like Murton is Odd Man Out, is it possible to package Murton and Marquis (who looks better for a trade as a starter) and go get someone else?!?!?! there's also the idea that Marquis is only good for a half-year, hence Lieber. So, are we done on the trade front?

conundrum? anyone? Bueller? Bueller? discuss...

and my gut tells me there aren't going to be any surprises, really. Kosuke is batting 5th, as we thought, Soriano second, again, as we thought...and Marquis may have saved himself by pitching well yesterday...though, I am still EXTREMELY curious what is going on at the Cubs front office as of today...

I can practically SMELL opening day it's so close...

blog on, kids...

Well, let's see...are we more breakfast fans or dessert fans? Curious what Im talking about? Coco Crisp vs Pie, THAT's what Im talking about...well, apparently there's interest from the Cubs in Coco Crisp. Fine. Does that mean we get rid of Pie? Not sure yet. Now, in all honesty, I have grown tired of the "let's wait and see" attitude of Cubs management---here's what I mean...Corey Patterson was supposed to be the second coming, so was Augie, Tuffy, Bobby Hill and a laundry list of others...Is Pie ready? I dont know...is Crisp worth it, I dont know, but I do know this---we as a team have more trade bait this year than I can remember...Marquis, Murton, Marshall, Smardija (apologies on the spelling), Fuld, and yes, even DeRosa or Theriot---but moving them would have to make perfect sense...I'm still not sure if I want breakfast or dessert, but I do know this...you are supposed to eat a healthy breakfast to start off your mornings, correct?
