The Chicago Cubs and Zanie Zambrano

I would like to start out my first blog talking about the Cubs.  The ivy is bloom, the wind is as unpredictable as ever and the Cubs are in 1st place.  Not only that but they have the best record in baseball.  It's very obvious that the team is very good this year and for all us long time Chicagoans it's pretty unbelievable.  What does a Cubs fan do right now?  Get his hopes up?  Wait for the recurring disappointment?  Stop watching all together?  I'll tell you what I'm going to do.  Ride this team all the way to the end like I do every year.  That's right. The Cubs have the best record in baseball midway through June.  What else could you ask for?  The playoffs are still months away and I’m sure the rest of the season is going to seem to take as long as it takes for Pinella to walk out to the mound but I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.  This team has some of the most exciting player's in the NL.Two words.  Carlos Zambrano.  Big Z.  Call his what you want but his pitching and even hitting does the talking.  This roller coaster of emotion he provides could be grounds for his own reality show.  I have never seen a guy go from pure joy to utter disgust in just a few pitches.  Bats, water coolers, Michael Barrett look-a-likes beware.  This guy wants to be at the top and nothing is going to get in his way.  Over the past five seasons he has averaged 15 wins, 189 K's and 215 IP's.  I don't know if there has been a more consistent and healthy pitcher in the league.  All I have to say is look out Mr. Webb, Big Z is going to be waiting to pounce on that Cy Young if you can't keep up the pace.
