After the Cubs picked up Rich Hardens option, there still is unfinished business with putting the final pieces for the Cubs winning it all in 2009. Still hurts to say I have to wait to next year. Anyways, I am already writtng my Christmas list to Jolly Ole Saint Nick (AKA Jim Hendry). He better hear my demands or he will be unhappy when he sees that there is coal in his stocking.
Go After Sabathia!!
I’m going coco for C.C. We all should. After joining the Brewers Sabathia went 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA. He just dominated the National League. I think he will continue to do that will the nasty pitches he has. I think the Cubs should steer him away from the West Coast and convince him he will continue to make National League hitters foolish. Offer him a small contract. I don’t care how much it is. If you want to win next year, get him on your team.
Go After Roberts!!
Ah, yes the talks of Brain Roberts are stirring up once again. Roberts had another fine year with the underachieving Orioles a .296 average. If Fukudome continues to struggle, the Cubs will need to do something. Or just trade Fukudome. I just love the combination of Derosa in right and Roberts at second.
Go After Burnett
AJ Burnett reminds me of Lilly. This guy can replace Marquis in the rotation. Burnett had 18 wins this year and I see him as a 20 game winner if he comes to the National League. Plus, I have a feeling Dempster will be a one year wonder.
Go After MANNY!!
A lot of people would disagree with this, but Manny Ramirez is an amazing ball player. He has played in so much post-season, a clutch hitter in the post-season (ahem Lee, Soriano, Ramirez, Lou), and he can bring great energy to this ball club. The Cubs do not seem to have a guy who is the brute, leader who says everything will be alright. Manny being Manny is something the Cubs need. Offer him a one year deal and come October, Manny-Mania will hit Wrigley.

Go After Abreu
The Cubs need a right fielder. They have Fukudome, but I saw lets put him in center and get this Abreu guy. This year he did awesome with a .296 average, 20 dingers, and knocked in 100 New Yorkers. With a lineup of Abreu, Lee, and Ramirez, pitchers will have problems pitching around them.
So, Hendry please read my list. Oh, and one last thing: A World Series.
