CUBS WILL SHINE IN 2009? GIVE ME A BREAK

Every year, every Cubs fan believes this year can possible be finally the year.  The year where all of the misery will finally be forgotten as the Cubs will finally hoist up the trophy that means they are the champions of the world.  For me it is hard to feel 2009 will be any different.  It is hard to get close to these Cubs all over again.  It is hard trying comprehend the lost of Mark Derosa unless it brings Peavy to the Cubs.  I can not see 2009 being a better season than 2008 to make me believe it will  be the year this year.  There were so many moments that made me believe the Cubs were going to win it in 2008.  There were so many walk off wins.  So many comeback victories.  Who could forget the improable comeback where the Cubs were down 8-0 at one point, then 9-1 at another point and come back and win 10-9 against the Rockies.  How would you not think this would be the year?  There were so many wins.  97 to be right.  So many defining moments.  We got Rich Harden in a trade.  Carlos Zambrano threw a no hitter, the first for the Cubs since Milt Papas threw one.  The Cubs had home field advantage in the playoffs.  Everything was theirs for the taking.  But, these are the Cubs we are talking about.  I just do not know any more about these Cubs.  Anything can happen in baseball, but we have been proven the Cubs winning a World Series is unlikely to happen.  So why all of this negativity?   As a Cubs fan, it is just a normal characteristic.  Aside from that, the Cubs are going to have problems next year.  To me, I see we only have  a three man rotation: Zambrano, Lilly, and Dempster.  Harden is hard to count on with all his health issues and our fifth starter is still a mystery.  Unless we go after another pitcher (JAKE PEAVY), the Cubs are going to have huge problems in their pitching rotation if not only Harden goes down, but some one else.  The Cubs think the Central is theirs for the taking.  I do not see that.  I see Astros competeting and still the Cardinals trying to make it back to the good old days.  This is baseball anything can happen.  What do you think will happen if the Cubs do not make the playoffs in 2009?  I wish not to know, because I know it will not be so divine.
