Aramis Ramirez

4 March 2009

I am so excited to finally watch a Chicago Cubs game in Spring Training. So, I am gonna do my best to do up-to-the-minute highlgihts.

9:06 p.m.: Getting ready to start. White Sox John Danks is the starting pitcher. So Taguchi plaays right field for the Cubbies. Derrek Lee is off, Micah Houffpauir is at first. Seems sold out, which I think it is. Groovy.

Hi there. i'm gonna make this pretty short about myself, since this is my first blogpost and I would hate to bore you on the first time.

I have been dedicated to the Chicago Cubs since 1984 as a little 3-year-old gal. Since then, the friends I have made are either dedicated White Sox fans or former-Cubs-fans-turned-Sox-fans-cause-they-couldn't-take-losing.

d multiple chances to win, and no one was anywhere close to driving him in, save Daryle Ward.  Aramis Ramirez could not figure out Dodger pitching, and the Cubs were lost without his bat.  I am not going anywhere near the $40 million problem named Kosuke Fukudome.

What a day for Alfonso Soriano. He came up with a huge 3-run home run in the 7th inning with 2 on and 2 out to put the Cubs up 10 to 7 over the Astros. Soriano also had a single and a double to give him 4 RBI on the day. He touched home twice.

Meanwhile, a former mid-season acquisition, Aramis Ramirez, has awoken his own echoes. Armed with high rising knock socks, his old swagger is back. Ramirez was lost in the lineup with a bad case of a June swoon after his epic series against the White Sox, batting .129 in the 8 games following the showdown at Wrigley. In the midst of his swoon, he traveled back to Santo Domingo to resolve family issues, and just two games later showed up to the ballpark as a different

Let's see... Aramis Ramirez, your up.  All opposing pitchers, tread lightly.

Continuing my Around the Horn review of the Chicago Cubs roster, I move from the mound to the hot corner.  WAy back in 2003, the Cubs middl eof the order and third base defense had a huge void.  And by huge, I mean EPICLY huge.  And then, Jim Hendry, the Cubs GM, pulled off what could only be described as highway robbery.  Some call it "raiding the pantry", but the Pirates, wanting to blow off some cap space and get some youngsters some playing time (when do the Pirates NOT send in youngsters?), traded players like Kenny Lofton, Lenny Harris, and

Derreck Lee started with a single to right followed by an Aramis Ramirez walk. Kosuke Fukudome who had recorded the only two hits leading up to the ninth came to bat. As the soldout crowd of 41,089 rose to their feet, Fukudome delivered by sending a 3-1 Gagne fastball into the rightfield seats tying the game at 3.

Those type of numbers would silence the critics for now.

Aramis Ramirez: HR's (30 1/2)-over, RBI (103)-over, BA (.300)-under

Aramis Ramirez is the teams best hitter adding to the fact that he should be batting third in the lineup. There have been numerous questions since his Pittsburgh Pirate days as to how much A-Ram actually cares on game-by-game basis. Whether it is not running out fly balls or getting picked off the base paths, question marks still arise about his commitment. There is no doubting Ramirez's physical talent, but if he wants to be in that elite class of hitter he must show show up every game 162 times a year. He will hit, no matter where in the lineup he bats, over 30 home runs and drive in 110-115 runs, but it will still be his strikeouts that lead to him batting under .300 for the season. Aramis has MVP talent, just not MVP effort every game.

If you are reading this title, your heart probably sank and it has shattered all the chances of the Cubs making it to the World Series.  Put away those tissues and turn that frown around because good old Zambrano is not hurt, but in perfect health.  But will he stay that way?  Below, I have posted my top ten predictions on what will happen during the Cubs season.  If any of these do happen you wish would not happen, please do no send me hate mail.  Enjoy!

Not about whether Aramis Ramirez raises chickens for cockfighting in the Dominican Republic. Not about bold predictions, as given by Ryan Dempster, who is not sure if he's even going to gain one of the starting positions in the rotation.
