Felix Pie

p but think about other crazy injuries that have happened to the Cubs.

Kerry Wood's bathtub slip. Felix Pie's problem with his balls. Is it so hard to be healthy during Spring Training?

I know that the injuries will come during the season, but it seems like every time someone in Spring training is hurt, then it will trickle down to the regular season and it will be a significant injury, like Soriano last year with his quad or D-Lee with his hand.

5) Opportunity.   He affords Felix Pie the opportunity to go to Iowa and try and figure out why he strikes out so much at the major league level and work on that by playing every day.   He even could take advantage of trying to learn how to hit left handed pitching from two of his Iowa Cubs team members, Rich Hill and Sean Marshall, legitimate major league left handed starters.  He is very young and very fast, he needs to hit like Lou Brock did for the Cardinals, he has some pop in his bat but his swing has too many holes in it and especially with two strikes, he lacks the discipline to be selective.  He bunts well but he doesnt use it as a weapon like Rod Carew did or Willie Tavares does now.  He should try and bunt at least one time every game just to plant the seed in the corner infielders mind that he can and will do it.

ck, all reports say he cannot hit the fastball, and his arm is weak.  The last time I checked, Felix Pie in the least could hit a fastball, and is the Cubs best defensive outfielder.  Reed Johnson has an on base percentage of .341!  Edmunds obp is .265, even lower than Pie’s .286.

Earlier this afternoon, the Cubs signed former Blue Jay Reed Johnson to a one-year deal to back up Felix Pie in center field. A very interesting and needed signing for a team that needed a righ

Ryan Theriot will lead off, followed by Alfonso Soriano in the two hole. And Felix Pie, after an impressive spring, officially won the centerfield spot and will start in the eighth spot.

and it is now likely the Cubs will move in that direction.

Although Felix Pie has been driving the ball well this spring, the Cubs would still like to see him hit to the opposite field with greater frequentency. If Jim Hendry were to land Crisp, it is likely that either Pie or Sam Fuld would start the season in the minors.

not have a center fielder who will come to bat in key situations and come through.  They have Felix Pie AKA Corey Patterson.  They are in one of the weakest divisons and will not be tested before they are in the playoffs.  They do not have a dependable lineup that will hit everyday.  They showed us this last year when the hitting went bad, it stayed bad, for a very long time.  And, they are not the New York Mets.  After aquiring Johan Santana, they have become World Series contenders and I do not see the Cubs marching pass them in the playoffs.  After their historic collapse from grace, the Mets are out for blood.

moves before the start of the season (Center field, for example because I'm just assuming that Felix Pie is the next Corey Patterson). but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
